As blog titles go, this one is not as obtuse as it could be and it's not that straight forward either
...so WHAT AM I ON ABOUT??? First off, avoid all caps when presenting lifestyle hacks meant to make life seem easier and breezier and fancy free....tra la la. Intention and efficiency are familiar concepts often paired in the mind if not in language...that is if I intend to do anything, I will eventually be influenced by how efficiently that thing is done. And that is where our tech becomes obviously important. I don't mean "our" tech specifically like our Mini Mouse Ring to control music
and visuals or our head-adorned brain wave enhancers; but, OUR tech as in humankind's collective pursuit of tools that elevate us to solve problems of greater importance OR to alleviate our struggles with a mundane, perhaps painful task, such as getting to sleep early when you are always so tired in the morning and at night you are so wired and thinking about all the weird stuff real and imagined going on inside and outside your head. So pretty straightforward stuff, right?
Midblog Explainer The marketing department has insisted that I steer this back toward the products and how they tie in with my treatise, my credo, my gist...but I said "no way! these readers are too smart to not know the benefits of saving time, looking professional, and getting the job done right when you have the right tools.
"And micro-controllers are the right tools why?" prodded the MadMen at the agency....because of the customer's need to make sense of an ever-increasing complexity in our schools, in our careers and our place in society. Do our tools really help with that?
Add up all the times your phone was lost and the stress you experienced frantically looking for that little hunk of metal containing so much of what our modern lives depend on.
Clever people have their phones tethered with an invisible line called Bluetooth or Wifi so when a phone is misplaced they tap the headset or smart ring or camera brooch and find their device quickly or the other way 'round.
Where's the headset? ....consult the phone. Hunting for your mouse to recheck that order amount while that potential sale waits or walks? Just use your ring mouse instead. Keyboard uncomfortable on your lap? just speak what you want to text in your headset, it's faster.
" All right already Don Draper, I think they get it! I told you they were smart." Now, back to my blog.......
But what's this "in the pocket line" at the end of the title (yes, we're still focused on the title) have to do with anything? You musicians out there probably guessed it and likely a few athletes and maybe more than a couple of mechanics would have surmised that to be in the pocket is to be at the top of your game, running at peak efficiency (producing wonderful results) while exerting practically no effort. Think back to a time when you accomplished much much more then than you do now and did not feel exhausted but exhilarated like a dove bobbing and diving and hunting playfully on the crest of a wave.
And how did we achieve this entropy-defying effervescence? Through intention...because you wanted to. And so knowing efficiency is tied to your intent, how can little tools make huge differences?
Ask those mechanics, dancers, violinists and pole vaulters about the importance of technique and how that relates in particular to each muscle movement - including the neurotic ones. Each muscle down to the tiniest fiber is in pin-pointed agreement as to where and when and how to go.
And then you must understand the relationship of those intentional micromovements with the master of time and space - namely, speed. Once you realize how fast to move and when, that thing you thought was so important: strength is not only not that important but can hinder your pursuit of efficient intended actions leading to achievement, abundance, justice and tranquil beauty...tra la la.....
Post Script: If Muhammad Ali had floated like an aircraft carrier and stung like a Patriot missile he would have been a terrible fighter whose career was over before it began, right?
